El marketing relacional surge en un intento por superar las limitaciones del marketing transaccionaly tiene como objetivo el desarrollo y mantenimiento de relaciones a largo plazocon los clientes mediante la satisfacción y creación de un mejor valor del mismo. Sin embargo,en la práctica no se conoce con precisión la forma en que se ha aplicado en mercados deconsumo masivo en América Latina, específicamente en el Perú. En vista de ello, se realizóun estudio de casos múltiple en tres empresas en la ciudad de Lima-Perú, siendo el resultado más importante evidencia de la coexistencia de los paradigmas transaccional y relacional enel campo aplicativo del marketing y no la esperada evolución del primero hacia el segundo.
