The Company as a Subjective Territory

Objective: This text aims to reflect on the implications of the company as a subjective territory and a link in the neoliberal model, affecting the vital praxis of employees. Methodology: The reflection is based on a literature review of academic journals and research books from both human and social sciences, with the goal of establishing, from a qualitative and interpretive approach, the molecular tensions that emerge and extend from the company to other dimensions of the worker’s social and subjective reality. Key findings: The literature review established that the market’s ability to shape and alter life, combined with the current use of technology, leads to continuous suspicion, accusation, and distrust among human beings due to the oppressive instrumentality that characterizes today’s work dynamics. Conclusions: Therefore, the various management approaches and administrative ideals adopted by companies seem not only aimed at transforming individuals into productive “machines” that serve organizational goals and performance indicators but also at permeating workers’ ways of life.
