Objective: The gradual growth of literature on social capital social entrepreneurship and social innovation is supported by empirical research results that demonstrate their interaction. This has highlighted the
need to identify the dynamics, trends (theoretical and methodological), gaps, and requirements of this relationship. Methodology: Based on the PRISMA-2020 statement, a systematic literature review was conducted, supported by bibliometric and content analysis. Key findings: The concepts of social entrepreneurship and social innovation remain ambiguous, and the fields are fragmented. Therefore, it is necessary to develop analytical, conceptual, and theoretical contributions; formulate hypotheses linked to the antecedents, consequences, and circumstances under which they operate, and establish a shared set of research objectives and questions. Meanwhile, social capital constitutes a field of more than 40 years, where epistemological and methodological studies, such as multilevel studies, persist. Conclusions: To advance the field of knowledge, it is necessary to conduct studies that seek to theorize and explain the incidence and interaction between social capital, from its different levels of analysis, concerning social entrepreneurship and social innovation.
