Objetivos: verificar si el Inventario Revisado de Personalidad Corporativa para la Descripción por Terceros (CPI-3R, por sus siglas en inglés) desarrollado en Australia es un instrumento válido y confiable para medir los rasgos oscuros de la personalidad de los jefes en un contexto organizacional mexicano, así como explorar la percepción de los subordinados sobre estos rasgos en sus superiores jerárquicos. Metodología: se analizó una muestra no aleatoria de 176 subordinados de distintos niveles jerárquicos y sectores, mediante la aplicación del CPI-3R y el uso de diversas técnicas estadísticas. Resultados principales: la estructura factorial del instrumento no replicó completamente la reportada en Australia; sin embargo, se identificaron dos factores consistentes y diferenciados correspondientes a las subescalas de fachada adaptable y egocentrismo impulsivo, lo que respalda parcialmente la clasificación original. La subescala de inflexibilidad no mostró confiabilidad. De manera no prevista, se observó una correlación negativa entre fachada adaptable y egocentrismo impulsivo. Conclusiones: los resultados sugieren una percepción diferenciada de los subordinados sobre sus superiores y aportan evidencia relevante para la detección de rasgos oscuros en contextos organizacionales mexicanos.
