The COVID -19 pandemic represented one of the greatest health and communication challenges of the 21st century, highlighting the relevant role of the media in shaping public perception. This study analyzes the media coverage of COVID -19 in Ibero-America and its impact on public perception, applying critical linguistic analysis and agenda setting and framing to 1,043 newspapers in Peru, Argentina and Spain from January 30, 2020 to January 8, 2021. There is a notable trend towards objective information and the prevalence of conflict frames, attribution of responsibility and human interest stands out, with minimal presence of ethical judgments. This pattern suggests a universal concern about the health, economic and social consequences of the pandemic, emphasizing the importance of editorial selection in the representation of the crisis. The findings highlight the role of print media in shaping public opinion during health emergencies and underscore the need for accurate communications from health authorities to guide risk perception and population response.
