Although its nature can vary, and the notion of wrongdoing can also change over time, it is clear that illegal economic activities have long been a widespread reality. There are many reasons for this, ranging from the opportunities they offer to social and cultural motivations, as well as - today - global geopolitical transformations. Drug production and trafficking, which are among the most emblematic and important illicit economic activities, illustrate this very well.
