Abstract

Objective: To determine the psychometric properties of intra-rater and inter-rater reliability of the KidsLife Scale in three regions of Colombia, for the evaluation of the quality of life of people between 4 and 21 years of age with intellectual and multiple disabilities. Methodology: A study was carried out with an empirical-analytical approach, of an instrumental type, in a sample of 200 people with intellectual and multiple disabilities, the scale was answered by a third party who reported on the person's quality of life in relation to eight dimensions. . To determine the intra-rater and inter-rater reliability, the levels of agreement for the items of the 8 dimensions of the scale were calculated through the weighted Kappa index, the correlations between dimensions were also analyzed with Pearson correlation coefficients and intraclass correlation coefficient. Results: Intra-rater reliability resulted in moderate reliability in 71.9% of the items, and good in 20.83% (p<0.00). The correlation measurements showed a positive and statistically significant correlation for all dimensions (p<0.001). The intraclass correlation coefficients showed adequate intra-rater reliability in each of the dimensions. Inter-rater reliability was moderate for 52% of the items and low for 44.8%. The correlation analysis between dimensions is positive and highly significant (p<0.001). Agreement analyzes yielded levels of agreement between “moderate” and “substantial”. The intraclass correlation coefficients were adequate, all between moderate and substantial. Conclusion: The KidsLife scale can be used and applied for the evaluation of quality of life in people with intellectual disabilities in Colombia.
