Diversos escritos exploram a inovação organizacional e relacionam seu efeito no desempenho organizacional. No entanto, poucos estudos, por uma parte, tomam em conta a inovação técnica e a inovação administrativa como dimensões da inovação organizacional, e por outro lado, utilizam estas dimensões para analisar seu efeito no desempenho organizacional. Neste trabalho, os autores analisam a influência da inovação, incluindo as duas dimensões destacadas, sobre o desempenho organizacional. Adicionalmente, os autores examinam o comportamento das características organizacionais como variável moderadora desta relação. O estudo foi aplicado às empresas do setor serviços. Os resultados indicam que a inovação emgeral e a inovação técnica influem no desempenho organizacional, não assim a inovação administrativa, o qual reforça a idéia de que as empresas devem melhorar a baixa percepção daimportância da inovação administrativa para conseguir melhores desempenhos.
