Trabalho emocional como preditor de burnout entre policiais militares

Resumen

El objetivo de esta investigación fue verificar el papel predictor del trabajo emocional en la incidencia del burnout en policías militares. Participaron 525 militares profesionales: 408 hombres y 117 mujeres. Tres escalas adaptadas para portugués fueron usadas en el estudio: Emotional Labour Scale, Emotion Work Requirements Scale y la subescala de agotamiento emocional de Maslach Burnout Inventory. Análisis de regresión múltiple fueron realizados para evaluar el poder predictivo de las dimensiones de trabajo emocional y de variables sociodemográficas sobre el burnout. Los resultados indican que todas las dimensiones de trabajo emocional se mostraron como predictores de burnout: variedad e intensidad de las emociones, frecuencia de interacción con sospechosos y criminales, regulación profunda y regulación superficial, y la necesidad de expresar emociones positivas como parte del trabajo policial. Haber completado la escuela secundaria, ser Cabo y actuar en el servicio extremo también fueron predictores de burnout. Las evidencias del impacto del trabajo emocional y del cargo en la incidencia de burnout ponen en evidencia la importancia de dar atención especial a la salud y al desarrollo de competencias socioemocionales de policías militares
