The aim of this study was to adapt to a sample of Argentine students the Personality Questionnaire IPIP BIS BAS and to obtain a personality measure that allows discrimination among different patterns of alcohol consumption in a local sample. The results suggest that a two-factor structure (BIS and BAS) is the most appropriate for this population. They also show that scores in the Ba scale correctly classified drinking patterns in about 11% of the subjects. General results obtained in the present study are encouraging and can be considered as an acceptable option to measure the BIS / BAS personality dimensions
