A paz é construída em lugares específicos, que não são intercambiáveis, por meio de práticas
espaciais específicas que constroem estruturas espaciais em diferentes escalas. Há grande quan-
tidade de literatura sobre os processos usados para construir a paz —o como da construção da
paz—; no entanto, há poucas pesquisas que examinam a questão de onde a paz e a construção da paz ocorrem. As zonas livres de armas nucleares (NWFZS, em inglês) e as zonas de paz (ZdeP) regionais e locais são espaços delimitados. Em outras palavras, elas têm caráter essencialmente territorial, embora não nos termos militaristas usuais, pois todas são iniciativas de desarmamento e, portanto, são formas alternativas de entender a defesa. A NEFZ é um conceito relacionado à política de segurança; na verdade, é uma política de segurança alternativa. De fato, se entendermos o território como uma tecnologia política, a NWFZ e a ZdeP são tecnologias políticas pacifistas, que se destacam entre as propostas neste artigo.
