Introdução: Os videojogos estão associados a uma dieta de menor qualidade, e a popularidade dos esports aumentou nos últimos anos, potenciada pela COVID-19. Simultaneamente, as indústrias do álcool, bebidas energéticas e fast-food aumentaram os seus investimentos publicitários para esse público. No entanto, desconhece-se a literatura existente sobre os hábitos alimentares e de suplementação dos jogadores de esports.
Objetivos: Realizar uma revisão de escopo sobre os hábitos alimentares dos jogadores de esports.
Materiais e Métodos: Adotando a extensão PRISMA para metodologia de revisões de escopo, foram conduzidas pesquisas na Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar e Esports Research Network.
Resultados: Foram encontradas dezassete publicações relevantes, que incluíram um total de 8760 jogadores de esports. Quatro artigos envolveram competidores alemães, três dos EUA, três poloneses, dois portugueses, um brasileiros, um noruegueses, um dinamarqueses, um húngaros e um chineses. Um estudo internacional incluiu jogadores dos EUA, Austrália, Canadá, Alemanha e Reino Unido. Quatorze eram estudos transversais e três observacionais. Dez estudos aplicaram questionários online, dois aplicaram inquéritos, três aplicaram diários alimentares e outros três aplicaram entrevistas semiestruturadas. Nove estudos avaliaram o consumo de bebidas cafeinadas, oito caracterizaram o consumo de álcool, seis de frutas e vegetais e quatro de suplementos alimentares.
Conclusões: Esta revisão de escopo revelou dezassete estudos que incluíram informações sobre os hábitos alimentares de jogadores de esports. A qualidade da dieta destes jogadores poderá ser inadequada, ingerindo menos porções de frutas e vegetais do que o recomendado. Além disso, o consumo de cafeína parece ser comum.

Rui Manuel de Almeida Poínhos. Concluiu a Licenciatura em Ciências da Nutrição em 2004 pela Faculdade de Ciências da Nutrição e Alimentação da Universidade do Porto (FCNAUP), o Mestrado Integrado em Psicologia - Área de Especialização em Psicologia Clínica e da Saúde em 2011 pela Faculdade de Psicologia e de Ciências da Educação da Universidade do Porto e o Doutoramento Nutrição Clínica em 2014 pela FCNAUP. É Professor Auxiliar Convidado na FCNAUP. Tem mais de 19 anos de experiência profissional na área da nutrição clínica. Actua e desenvolve investigação nas áreas das Ciências da Nutrição e da Psicologia, nomeadamente a nível de comportamento alimentar, obesidade, nutrigenómica e nutrigenética, insuficiência renal e hemodiálise. Participou como investigador em 11 projectos de investigação, 4 dos quais com financiamento internacional. É autor de 101 trabalhos publicados por extenso e 407 publicados sob a forma de resumo em revistas científicas e actas de conferências. Realizou 69 comunicações e apresentações públicas de trabalhos. Outros 416 trabalhos foram apresentados por outros autores ou não tiveram apresentação oral nas reuniões científicas em que foram apresentados. Recebeu 34 prémios de investigação. Supervisionou ou orientou 1 estudante de pós-doutoramento 1 de doutoramento, 53 de mestrado e 28 de licenciatura. Orientou um estágio pré-graduado e dois estágios pós-graduados no âmbito de programas de mobilidade internacionais.
