The purpose of this study is to measure the effects of the use of Internet on the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in the entrepreneurial context of an emerging economy. A review of empirical studies on the use of Internet in SMEs describes the factors that may have an influence on the use of the Internet and its subsequent effect on the growth. The methodology and design of the research are based on a quantitative study of a sample of SMEs in Mexico. The model has been tested by structural equation modelling (SEM). Given the results of the SEM, the total effect of the use of the Internet on the growth of the SMEs studied is considered to be plausible, with a percentage of variance that explains the growth of 47 percent. The study suggests some implications for theory and SME management
