A research concerning twenty-five business ideas that resulted from the Colciencias “Vive Digital” program in Colombia, within the framework of Special Cooperation Agreement 0678-2012 APPSCO-UNAB on mobile applications, was carried out. The objectives of this investigation were: 1) to know from where the business ideas analyzed had emerged; 2) to establish whether their window of opportunity is open or closed, and 3) to identify the profile of the entrepreneurs and mentors who had implemented them in order to discover their implication for the development of the enterprises. The research is descriptive, quantitative and qualitative. Among the results, the following are highlighted: 1) 86% of the business ideas arose from a market need and not from a technological innovation; 2) 44% of individuals believe that they will live of their idea in the future, and 3) only 50% of the mentors have experience in the sectors in which they work.
