First of all, this article aims to show why cultural examination in political problems seems to be exotic in this type of research. Once the bases of this method are settled, cultural tools are used to bring about the authoritarian foundations of the Colombian regime. Through the same path, the risks of confusing assumptions contented in the notion of representation in the political order with the notion of participation in cultural order are depicted. Thus, it shows the way cultural elements of an authoritarian regime, may offer explanations about the obstacles that would have faced the Colombian citizens –misshaping by their culture- in exercising a participative citizenship. This, in turn, allows to understand the existence of the named cultural violence in Colombia appearing as a logical manifestation of cultural authoritarism. Finaly, the article establishes a proposal to fracture the whole mechanism through reviewing the mission and vision of the Colombian educational system.
