La percepción de un futuro significativo y su relación con el consumo de alcohol en la adolescencia

Resumen

Introducción: El consumo de alcohol es una de las conductas de riesgo más preocupante en la adolescencia. La percepción de sí mismos en el futuro (posibles sí mismo, PSs) y el sentido de propósito vital (PV) son reguladores de la conducta y pueden ser un factor protector de conductas de riesgo. El objetivo de este estudio es analizar la relación de los PSs y el sentido de PV y el patrón de consumo de alcohol de adolescentes del Área Metropolitana Bonaerense (AMBA).


Materiales y métodos: Participaron 276 adolescentes (60.1%, mujeres; Medad = 15.32, D.E. = 1.31) de escuelas privadas de enseñanza media del AMBA. Respondieron la Escala de la Percepción de Sí Mismo en el Futuro, la Escala de Propósito Vital para Adolescentes y el Cuestionario de Identificación de los Trastornos Debidos al Consumo de Alcohol. Para analizar la relación entre las variables se realizaron pruebas t de Student y regresiones lógicas binarias.


Resultados: Los/as adolescentes que no consumen o lo hacen de manera moderada y menos frecuente tuvieron una percepción de PSs más positiva y una mayor búsqueda e identificación de PV. El principal predictor de un bajo nivel de consumo fue la probabilidad percibida de alcanzar PSs positivos en el dominio del comportamiento.


Conclusiones: se evidencia la importancia de los PSs en el dominio del comportamiento con respecto al consumo de alcohol. Es recomendable trabajar sobre esta autopercepción y su vínculo con los otros PSs que suelen ser creados con más frecuencia por los/as adolescentes.
