Scope and Approach

Ciencias de la Salud publishes manuscripts that are based on any basic or clinical disciplines related to the healthcare field. Nonetheless, it gives prominence to quantitative analyses, with an analytical approach, and qualitative studies, such as ethnographies, life stories, and well-founded theses, as well as studies associated with diagnostic and epidemiological methods.

Case series studies or case presentation works are also welcome, particularly if addressing problems of common interest, as they constitute the most conventional way of presenting healthcare data and the most simply designed types of clinical research. Furthermore, they may be useful for the description of rare cases and as sources of hypothesis encouraging further analytical study.

Peer-review Process

a). Ciencias de la Saluds editorial coordination team will launch an open call for article submission; those who wish to submit their proposal will have a deadline within which to do so.

b). Once an article is received, Ciencias de la Saluds editorial coordination team will confirm receipt to its author, make a record of the document, and send it to two external peer reviewers for assessment using the double-blind method. Reviewers will be carefully selected considering the manuscript’s subject and the required specialized knowledge on each topic.

c). The reviewers will check the articles and deliver the result of their assessment in writing, filling out the Ciencias de la Salud assessment form. The review process will conclude after 4–5 weeks.

d). Afterwards, the article will be approved, rejected, or returned for modifications or changes to be applied to the text.

e). Where applicable, the editorial coordination team will proceed to do the following:

  • Inform the author of the article’s approval and begin editing the text for its publication.
  • If rejected, the author will be informed of the reasons preventing its publication as provided by the peer reviewer.
  • When the peer reviewers consider an article suitable for publication but requiring some adjustments, the editorial coordination team will send the corresponding notes to the author in writing.
  • In any of the three preceding cases, the journal’s editorial coordination team will inform the author of peer review result in writing.
  • Under no circumstances will the final results of the review process be subject to appeal.
