Objetivo: examinar cómo los vínculos universidad-empresa (UBL) configuran las capacidades dinámicas que permiten a las pymes latinoamericanas transformar la infraestructura tecnológica en resultados de innovación, contrastando las trayectorias de Colombia y México. Metodología: estudio cuantitativo transversal con 600 pymes (300 por país). Se empleó modelamiento de ecuaciones estructurales (pls-sem) y análisis multigrupo con bootstrapping (5000 iteraciones) y evaluación de invarianza. Resultados principales: las capacidades dinámicas median el 53.5 % del efecto total de la infraestructura sobre el desempeño (β indirecto = 0.327; p < 0.001). México presenta una trayectoria infraestructura-led (β directo = 0.382), mientras Colombia exhibe una trayectoria capacidades-led (β cd → re = 0.491; vaf = 64.8 %). Conclusiones: la efectividad de los ubl y las políticas de innovación dependen de configuraciones ecosistémicas específicas, ofreciendo lecciones para alinear la gestión universitaria y las políticas con los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenibles. Las políticas de innovación y gestión universitaria deben ser asimétricas: en México, fortalecer capacidades organizacionales; en Colombia, proveer acceso a tecnología de frontera para escalar la agilidad empresarial existente.
