This article analyses the relationship between climate change and economic activity in Latin America and the Caribbean through the environmental Kuznets curve (ekc). The results of the panel cointegration model for CO2 emissions indicates the existence of the ekc, the presence of cointegration relationships between the variables involved and the need to reach a break point greater than $10,134 per capita (measured at 2010 prices) to stabilize emissions and subsequently begin to reduce generating a process of low carbon economic activity.
