The work analyzes comparatively whether it is possible to consider that the expiration periods of the guarantees of conformity exclude another higher durability standard. In this research, three situations can be distinguished. A first solution prohibits planned obsolescence. Other legislations, without penalizing obsolescence, contemplate other duties that transcend the term of the guarantees (spare parts, information). Finally, in a third situation, an explicit reference to longer terms is omitted. However, this does not exclude their origin, if they are derived from the principle of sustainable consumption or from the general or public interest.
