35 Years of the Constitutional Court of Colombia: Transformations, Tensions, and Futures of Constitutionalism

On the occasion of this anniversary, Estudios Socio-Jurídicos invites researchers from Colombia and abroad to submit articles for a special issue dedicated to analyzing the trajectory, transformations, tensions, and impacts of the Constitutional Court during its first 35 years, as well as reflecting on the future challenges of Colombian constitutionalism.

Particularly Welcome Approaches

The special issue seeks to reflect the diversity of approaches through which an institution like the Constitutional Court can be studied. In line with the scope of Estudios Socio-Jurídicos, preference will be given to articles with socio-legal and interdisciplinary approaches, without excluding legal and constitutional analysis manuscripts that engage with social, institutional, empirical, or normative issues. Submissions featuring the following lines of research are especially encouraged:

  • Socio-legal and empirical

  • Historical

  • Comparative

  • Interdisciplinary

  • Feminist and gender perspectives

  • Critical

  • Rooted in the social sciences

  • Focused on the implementation and impact of judicial decisions

  • Incorporating territorial perspectives and voices traditionally underrepresented in constitutional justice studies

Works that draw on specific cases or jurisprudential developments to formulate broader conclusions about the role of the Court in Colombian society will be particularly valued.
