Este artículo presenta la primera aplicación de regresión de frontera estocástica y métodos probit bivariado para estimar salarios de reserva en individuos con discapacidades psiquiátricas. Utilizando datos del Proyecto de Demostración de Intervención de Empleo (n = 1.648), comparamos estos métodos entre participantes de Empleo Apoyado. La frontera estocástica produce un salario de reserva promedio de $5.25 por hora, mientras que probit bivariado produce $4.50 por hora. Las pruebas demuestran que probit bivariado muestra mayor consistencia con predicciones de teoría de búsqueda laboral. Debido a que la muestra está compuesta por participantes de programas de Empleo Apoyado, los resultados no deben generalizarse a todas las personas con discapacidades psiquiátricas. Nuestros hallazgos sugieren que beneficios de discapacidad pueden facilitar participación en mercado laboral hasta niveles superiores de riqueza, con implicaciones importantes para política de empleo.
