The use of biofeedback in the spinal cord injury

person rehabilitation has been increasing even

though there are no data about the effi cacy of such

technique. The study aimed to evaluate the effi cacy

of the technique in the motor rehabilitation of

spinal cord injured patients with different lesions.

Using case studies, three participants, two paraplegics

and one quadriplegic, with different lesion

levels and degrees of defi ciency were exposed to

electromyography biofeedback training sessions.

Data were obtained from the training sessions with

biofeedback, from three manual test examinations

of the muscles straight and from the reports of the

participants after the training process. These sources

of data were compared and the results of all the

three different sources showed improvement for

all the participants. The study concluded that the

electromyography biofeedback technique can be

an important tool in the rehabilitation process of

patients with this kind of lesion.
