As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • Single-spaced text with 12 point font size; italics are used rather than underlining (except URL addresses), and all pictures, figures, and tables are placed within the corresponding text body and not at the end of the document.
  • The text meets the bibliographic and style guidelines specified in the Rules for authors, which can be found in the “About the journal” section.
  • The submission has not been previously published or submitted to another journal. An explanation is provided in the comments to the editor.
  • The article you wish to submit to the journal complies with the rules for authors presented in the “Submissions” section.
  • The text complies with the bibliographic and style requirements. References are within the text and citation standards (it is the author’s responsibility to verify and complement bibliographic references and ensure the proper use of the works used for the development of the article).
  • Websites and DOI identifiers were added to ensure the digital location of the resource.
  • The authors state that the article is unpublished and original.
  • The authors include in the article a statement of potential conflicts of interest that may invalidate the publication because of financial, sponsorship, institutional, or authorship relationships.
  • The authors guarantee the integrity of the data, accuracy of the analyses, and veracity of the sources cited.
  • Informed consent forms and publication authorizations must be included for research works involving human populations, communities, minors, or patients. Authors shall bear the sole responsibility of failure to comply with these standards, and they have the duty to defend the journal in the event of a claim made by a third party regarding the aforementioned authorization.
  • The authors declare in the article the availability of data, codes, and research materials within the framework defined by the journal in the ethics policy and according to the limitations that originate in the research.
  • The article provides appropriate citations for data, codes, and materials according to the instructions to the authors, including the DOI identifier.
  • The authors attach the letter of submission duly signed by each of the authors who participated in the preparation of the article; this document is a necessary requirement for publication.
  • The authors accept the treatment of their data for notification purposes in the editorial process, indexing processes of the journal in national and international systems, and sending information of institutional interest.   1. The journal accepts articles written in Spanish or English and agrees to subject them to evaluation toward potential publication.
  2. Works can be sent in electronic form (only Word, PDF, or LATEX formats are accepted) through the platform or to the following email address: publicaciones.economia@urosario.edu.co
  3. Only new and unpublished articles, drafted exclusively by the author, and neither infringing nor misappropriating third-party copyrights will be accepted for assessment and potential publication. Conducting a thorough text review is highly advised to avoid including quotations or transcriptions from works not duly cited. The citation style required by the journal is that outlined by the APA.
  4. The first page of the document must include the following:
  • The title.
  • The authors’ names, institutional affiliations, ORCID, and email addresses.
  • An abstract no longer than 100 words, in English and Spanish.
  • At least one article classification code in accordance with the classification system for journals used by the Journal of Economic Literature.
  • Three to five keywords facilitating article indexing (maximum five).
  • A first footnote including the name, address, phone number, fax, and email address of the person who will be in charge of exchanging correspondence with the editor (corresponding author). The acknowledgments and the information regarding the financial aid received for document preparation can be specified in this footnote although it must not be part of the sequential numbering of footnotes.
  1. Except for the first page, the document must never contain information that would allow for identifying its author.
  2. Documents must never be longer than 40 Letter-sized pages and have to be double-spaced and printed single-sided. Margins must be large, and the font size must never exceed 12 point. Documents edited in Microsoft Word are preferred as they facilitate the editing process although this is not a limitation for document submission.

Authors who prefer to send their articles in other formats, such as Scientific Word and LATEX, among others, are also allowed to do so.

Once the document has been accepted for publication, authors must be willing to provide charts and formulas in high-quality hard-copies for purposes of article editing. By accepting document publication, authors approve the layout provided by the journal.

  1. Footnotes must be explanatory.
  2. References, figures, and tables must be consecutively numbered.
  3. Equations must be consecutively numbered throughout the document, for example (1), (2), etc., and must be right-aligned.

For abbreviated derived equations, it would be helpful for reviewers to have the derivation written in full on a separate sheet (that will not be published).

Authorship Statement – CRediT taxonomy

To strengthen the scientific integrity of research published by the journal, the CRediT taxonomy, established by CASRAI, will be adopted as of the second half of 2021. The article will include the description of the contributing roles of the authors who sign the publication. The level of contribution and type will be defined in accordance with the 14 contributor roles (https://casrai.org/credit/ ), with the possibility for a single author to simultaneously take on some of the following roles:
