Review of the book “MAPCOM. Quince años de investigación sobre comunicación en universidades españolas”, which presents an extensive meta-research on the field of communication in Spain, conducted by nearly 90 academics between 2007 and 2022. Organized in three parts, the book analyzes scientific papers, the voices of researchers and research groups, providing a detailed mapping of the state of communication research. It highlights the centrality of media communication, descriptive methodologies and the difficulties faced by researchers, such as lack of funding and the need for greater integration with Latin America. The text underlines the importance of meta-research for planning public policies and advancing the scientific legitimacy of the field.
