As Funções Executivas (FE) são processos de controle cognitivo que intervêm em diferentes domínios, incluido a regulação emocional. Embora seja esperado que estejam relacionados a habilidades como a Tolerância ao Desconforto (TD), existem poucos estudos sobre sua associação em crianças que tenham avaliado o papel de cada FE nessa habilidade. Este estudo examinou a relação entre FE (memória de trabalho, inibição e flexibilidade cognitiva) e TD em crianças em idade escolar. Foi realizado um estudo correlacional com uma amostra de 48 crianças de 7 a 9 anos. EF e TD foram avaliadas por meio de questionários de relatórios dos pais. Correlações altas e significativas foram encontradas entre cada FE e TD. A TD apresentou alta correlação com a flexibilidade cognitiva e correlação moderada com a memória de trabalho e com a inibição. Da mesma forma, ao considerar a contribuição conjunta de cada FE, apenas a flexibilidade cognitiva previu significativamente a TD. Esses achados fornecem evidências sobre a relação entre FE e TD em crianças em idade escolar, ressaltando o papel da flexibilidade cognitiva e a necessidade de estudos que permitam compreender melhor essa relação nessa fase do desenvolvimento.
