The objective of this study was to determine the emotional climate that prevails in inhabitants of the State of Mexico, and how it is related to the perception of social and institutional trust, at a time when violence ranks as an important issue in the public agenda as well as perception in Mexico. This research adopts a descriptivecorrelational cross-sectional design. The results revealed that in the sample of 552 participants, inhabitants of the State of Mexico, the climate balance is negative. The positive climate is negatively related to the perception of social problemas and positively related to institutional trust. The institutional trust is related negatively with the identification of social problems
