This study aimed to adapt the Children’s Social Desirability Scale (CSDS) to the Brazilian context, gathering evidence of its factorial validity and reliability. Two studies were carried out. Study 1 participants were 228 elementary school students with a mean age of 11 years (53% female). They answered the CSDS and demographic questions. Exploratory factor analysis revealed a one-factor structure (eigenvalue of 2.45), explaining 30.6% of the total variance and presenting reliability (Kuder-Richardson) of .66. Study 2 participants were 210 elementary school students with a mean age of 11 years (52% male), who answered to the same scale and demographic questions in previous study. A confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the one-factor structure [χ²/df=1.53, GFI=.96, AGFI=.93, CFI=.94, TLI=.92, RMSEA=.050 (90% CI=.001 to .084) and Pclose=0.46], with Kuder-Richardson of .69, homogeneity of .22, and composite reliability of .76. In conclusion, this instrument gathers evidences of factor validity and reliability, indicating that it can be used to measure social desirability in children.
