This article intends to denounce the impunity of one of the most atrocious crimes of the Spanish state, the enforced disappearance of thousands of children taken from their mothers. Originally done as an ideological punishment and a repressive instrument of eugenic purification, established by Franco's regime, it later turned into a lucrative business of buying and selling minors and eventually ended up pulling the strings of parentage in Spain well into democracy.

Despite that the numerous cases reported in recent years suggest that we could be facing a genuine crime against humanity, the Spanish authorities (governmental and judicial) do not allow investigating the facts, which means that, to this day, the only hope for the victims to gain access to truth, justice, and reparation lies in international criminal justice.
