Scope and Approach

Territorios is a bi-annual academic journal, the main objective of which is the dissemination of specialized knowledge on regional and urban topics to study and deal with issues related to territorial development by disseminating communication of critical analyses and alternative proposals, which ultimately seek to redefine the region and the territory under the current economic and political structural changes.

Like every specialized publication, it targets researchers who are experts in the Urban Studies and Regional Studies fields and their related disciplines.

Territorios aims to disseminate unpublished, relevant, and high-quality articles related to research conducted on the knowledge areas associated with Urban Studies, reviewed by highly renowned academic peers, under the double-blind modality.

The journal receives original research articles, reflection papers, and bibliographic reviews covering every thematic area related to the interdisciplinary social sciences.

Peer-review Process

  1. The Territorios journal will launch an open call for article submission; those who wish to submit their proposal will have a previously stipulated deadline within which to do so.
  2. Once an article is received, the journal will send an acknowledgment of receipt to its author through the platform. First, it will be checked to ensure the article’s unpublished nature. If prior publication is detected, the author will be informed of its rejection.

Then, if the Editorial Committee finds that the article should be subjected to evaluation, it will be anonymously sent to an external peer reviewer. Reviewers will be carefully selected by considering the manuscript’s subject and the required specialized knowledge of each topic.

  1. The external reviewers will check the articles and deliver the result of their assessment in writing, filling out the Revista Territorios’ review form. This assessment stage will last between 4 and 6 months.
  2. Afterwards, the article will be approved, rejected, or returned to make adjustments or changes.
  3. Where applicable, the editorial coordination team will proceed to do the following:
  • Inform the author of article approval and begin the text processing for its publication.
  • The author will be informed of article rejection and the reasons that prevented its publication as provided by the peer reviewer.
  • When the peer reviewer finds an article suitable for publication, although requiring some adjustments, the editorial coordination team will send the corresponding notes to the author in writing.
  • In any of the three preceding cases, the journal’s editorial coordination team will inform the author of the peer review’s result in writing.
  • Under no circumstances will the final results of the review process be subject to appeal.
