This review provides a critical analysis of the collective work Inteligencia artificial y periodismo: miradas desde la ética [Artificial Intelligence and Journalism: Perspectives from Ethics], edited by Sonia Parratt and María Ángeles Chaparro. Set against a social backdrop polarized by the emergence of Large Language Models, the volume examines the impact of algorithmic ubiquity on the news cycle and the subsequent need to update the profession's deontological principles. Through a choral approach that brings together academics and industry professionals, the text dissects the contributions structured around four major thematic axes: media responsibility in adopting frameworks for the responsible integration of AI; the democratic implications and risks that AI may pose to pluralism and the rule of law; the role of AI within the daily routines of specialized journalism; and the challenge of citizen empowerment through fact-checking to combat chatbot-generated disinformation. Furthermore, the work invites readers to conceive the rise of artificial intelligence not merely as a structural challenge to daily newsroom operations, but as an opportunity to safeguard the social and democratic function, as well as the civic commitment, of the journalistic profession.
