Among the pathologies that affect childhood, Down Syndrome (DS) stands out for causing global changes in the developmental process. In recent years, mainly because of its high incidence, several studies have been undertaken in order to better understand this syndrome, which has contributed to an important increase in knowledge about this area. However, there are still gaps in relation to understanding the changes and transformations that characterize the development of these children, especially in relation to the initial stages of their development. With the objective to contribute to this field of research, this article aimed to summarize the main aspects about the neurodevelopmental and relational development of babies with DS. It is expected thus, to contribute to the literature in the area, emphasizing both aspects, at the beginning of the baby’s life and thereby facilitate the treatment by students and researchers of the studies on DS
