La recuperación de los activos relacionados con las prácticas de los crímenes contra
la humanidad, crímenes de guerra y genocidio es una medida contenida en los
instrumentos constitutivos de la Corte Penal Internacional. La tendencia actual de
las resoluciones de la CPI muestran la oportunidade de adoptar la confiscación
de bienes como medida primaria para responder a los conflictos más graves. La
actuación sobre los activos permite detener el flujo de fondos para fines ilícitos,
generando un impacto sobre las estructuras que patrocinan conflictos. Además, iniciativas de desarrollo social, económica y política pueden ser financiadas a través de los bienes recuperados.
