Tools for development planning: a Land Information System with a focus on value chain

Abstract

So that the Territories may be their development strategies is necessary to have a body of information to gather a minimum of conditions. Also to be able to devise and execute the strategy, under a scheme of strategic planning
is necessary to measure. The statistical information available today, in Cordoba, Argentina, is insufficient to assess the potential of a territory.
Is investigated here if necessary, even if not indispensable, having a land information system (GIS) to plan development and if so, what should be the contents of it. The main assumption of the work said that the establishment of
SIT is a critical tool to facilitate the implementation of strategies for economic development land. This research contributes to local economic development analysis of the importance of having systematically organized information and provides a description of information that a SIT should focus. In sum, an SIT can help guide the collection of information to key aspects of ownership of value-added in the territories and can help make assessment of local development projects.
